Only data collected with weigh wagons is admissible for CPT. Trials are planted, swathed and harvested or straight cut and, when necessary, sprayed by growers using the respective herbicide systems according to established protocols. Individual plots range from 0.5 to 1.5 acres. When comparing average results between varieties, consider the number of field sites for each variety. Field scale trials occasionally produce data that is above or below the expected range. If agronomic observations cannot explain these outliers, then they are checked against the statistical limits of deviation established by the CPT Technical Committee. If the data falls outside the limits, it is removed.
